Counselors on Great Help are vetted, trained caring individuals employed by our company to provide professional counseling, coaching, consulting, and listening services. All Great Help counselors go through a rigorous screening, training, and apprenticeship before they are matched with individual clients.
Many of our counselors are not licensed and cannot treat or diagnose individuals with mental health disorders. However, we believe that many people, including 100% fit and mentally healthy people, face challenges and difficulties in life that do not require assistance from a PhD or licensed medical professional. We believe that many individuals, like you, greatly benefit from affordable, caring help to work through those obstacles, and that is what Great Help is here to provide.
For example, we have found that many of our clients have had better success receiving marital guidance and advice from a Great Help grandma who has been happily married for 47 years; instead of, for example, receiving input from a recent PhD graduate who is heavily educated and highly credentialed, but has never actually been married themselves.
After you sign up, we will match you to a counselor who fits your goals, preferences, and the type of issues you are dealing with. Different counselors have different approaches and areas of expertise, so it's important to find the right person who can achieve the best results for you. If you start the process and you feel your counselor isn't a good fit for you for whatever reason, you can be matched with a different counselor at any time and at no cost to you.
Great Help may be right for you if you're looking to improve the quality of your life. Whenever there is anything that interferes with your happiness or prevents you from achieving your goals, we may be able to help. Our counselors have very diverse life experiences and areas of expertise for you to draw from whether dealing with family conflicts, sadness, relationships, anxiety, parenting, depression, bad habits, eating, fitness, sleeping, anger, grief, religion, self-esteem, stress, and more.
Great Help may NOT be the right solution for you if any of the following is true:
- You have thoughts of hurting yourself or others
- You are in an urgent crisis or an emergency situation
- You have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness
- You are a minor or you are under the care of a legal guardian
- You have been advised to be in psychiatric care or psychological supervision
- You were required to undergo therapy or counseling either by a legal authority
The cost of counseling through Great Help is $99/month (billed monthly) and includes all your messaging, chats, phone, and video sessions. You can cancel your membership at any time for any reason.
Live chats and video sessions are up to 50 minutes long and can be scheduled as frequently as every week. Non-instant messaging (i.e. email or non-scheduled text messages) are unlimited and as often as you like. Some clients choose only phone sessions, some prefer only text messaging, some use a combination of all of them – the choice is yours. We will accommodate whatever you are most comfortable with and prefer.
In most cases within 24 hours.
You can connect with your counselor in many ways:
- Speaking over the phone
- Text messaging over the phone
- App messaging via WhatsApp
- Video chat via Facetime or Skype
- Text chatting live on our website
- Exchanging emails
You can use different ways at different times as you wish, based on your needs, availability, and convenience. All these methods are included in your membership with no additional charges and regardless of how many messages you send or how many live sessions you have.
Everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. In fact, therapy is for people who have enough self-awareness to realize they need a helping hand, and that is something to be admired. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you're at in life and making a commitment to change the situation by seeking therapy. Great Help provides long-lasting benefits and support, giving you the tools needed to avoid triggers, re-direct damaging patterns, and overcome whatever challenges you face.
This is completely up to you. How long you use Great Help depends on your needs and varies a lot from one person to another. Some people feel they get most of the value after just a few weeks, while others prefer to continue their sessions for a long period of time.
